I recently built a narrow entryway table and wasn’t sure how I was going to decorate it for Christmas. I was looking around at different stores and found two wooden nutcrackers. They were made of unfinished wood, so it was perfect for the job.
I wanted a glass looking finish to the nutcrackers, but found that the glass spray paint was a little pricey. Since the glass spray paint cost so much, I settled on a metal finish. I thought that after I sprayed my wooden nutcrackers, I could finish them off with a high gloss sealer and they would look great.
I needed something else to go with them, so I decided on a silhouette of a girl holding the nutcracker like in the ballet. I googled some images but couldn’t come up with a silhouette. I then saw a picture on the internet of the girl. I freehanded the outline of her and scanned it into the computer. Then, I used the silhouette cutter to cut a piece of vinyl out of it. I put the picture on a canvas and painted over it with red. After I was finished, I pulled the vinyl off the canvas and had a silhouette of the girl.
I decided I still needed a little more on the table so I added some garland. I love the way my decor turned out!
