I want to decorate for Halloween this year in a classy metallic and white theme. I don’t, however, want to spend $500 on decorations that will only see the light of day for a month at the most! I decided to try to make my own decorations as much as possible. This halloween centerpiece is made from a humble pumpkin candy pail that I got at Wal Mart for $1.
The original treat pail was a ghastly purple color, very tacky. I painted it white using a high gloss craft paint. I had to put on 6 coats to fully cover the dark purple plastic. If I were to do this again, I would use spray paint for a quicker and more even coverage.
I considered leaving the whole pumpkin white, but since the Jack-O-Lantern face was embossed into the plastic, I painted the face with some metallic copper craft paint.
I think it turned out beautifully classy and elegant, and looks perfectly spooky when full of black roses
