I have finally finished my pallet entryway table. I LOVE IT! I needed a narrow table to fit in the space where I wanted to place it. I had some extra pallet boards laying around and decided I would play around to see if I could make one. I did look at some tables on Pinterest but couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. Here is my beauty:
I have yet to decide on the decor I want to use for it yet. I am so in love with the top and I don’t want to cover it up.
Here is the tutorial if you would like to build one for yourself.
The supplies you will need for this project are:
- Miter Saw
- Nail Gun or Screws
- 1×2 (optional)
After taking your pallet apart, decide on the height of table you want. I wanted my table to be 30″ tall. For the table to have angled legs, you will need to cut two of your boards at 25 degrees. When cutting the legs, cut your board on the side. Don’t cut it flat. Refer to the picture below.
This is what the legs should look like when you cut them.
Next, take another board and measure where you want your legs. This will be your top board. Make the distance the same on both sides. Mark it and pre drill three holes.
After you pre drill your holes, screw the legs to the top board.
Now, attach your boards to the outside. Attach them with screws or with the nail gun. You can either attach your end pieces or side pieces first. Cut your side pieces to the length you need.
I used a 1″ board as a guide when attaching the sides so the trim would sit higher. I wanted to do something different for the top.
I thought my table needed a little extra support so I added a piece of wood to the middle. I’m not that good at angles so I just held the board up to the leg where I wanted it and marked it with a pencil on the other side. I adjusted my saw to achieve the correct angle. I used a Kreg Jig to screw it in from the bottom. That way, you wouldn’t see any of the screws.
You can either stop here and have an entryway table or continue and create something pretty on the top of your table. I had some extra 1×2′s laying around, so I played with them to get the design I wanted. First, you will need to cut your first piece at a 45 degree angle.
Next, measure from the inside of the trim piece on your table to the middle of your table. When measuring, make sure you measure it at a 45 degree angle. Now, cut your board to that measurement. You should have a piece that looks like this:
I ended up cutting a lot of pieces the same length. However, when I pieced them together, they didn’t fit as tight as I wanted. More than likely, the pallet boards I used were not the straightest boards. I then put all of my pieces on one side and measured each piece for the other side.
You can either run the same pattern on the top or change it up. I ran my pattern halfway, then changed the direction for the other half. Where the pattern meets, you will need to cut a triangle piece for the top. When cutting the bottom piece, you will need to cut your angle then turn the wood over and cut your other angle.
After you have all the pieces in and fitted, you will need to take them out to glue them. Number each piece when taking them out so you will know where they go. I used liquid nail to glue mine. After everything is glued, sand and paint it. Now you are finished!
